The Anacortes City Prosecutor is responsible for prosecuting all
crimes occurring within the city limits that are classified as gross
misdemeanors and misdemeanors under the State laws (RCW) and Anacortes
city ordinances. The Prosecutor is also responsible for prosecuting
civil-traffic infractions in the City of Anacortes and all city
ordinance civil violations filed in District Court.
The Prosecutor represents the interests of the people of the City of
Anacortes by timely charging persons who have committed criminal
offenses within the city with crimes that accurately reflect the
offending conduct and by taking steps to ensure that the conduct is
appropriately punished.
The Prosecutor represents the interests of the public as a whole and
does not represent individuals. The prosecutor is strictly prohibited
from providing any legal advise to private individuals in any criminal
matter. |
